A structured account of how Shreeng.ai approaches fairness, transparency, accountability, privacy, and safety — in engineering practice, not in policy statements.
Position Statement
The majority of Responsible AI documents published by technology companies are aspirational statements without enforcement mechanisms. They describe values the organization claims to hold without specifying how those values constrain engineering decisions, what measurements verify compliance, or what happens when a system fails to meet the stated standard.
This document is different. Each principle below is accompanied by the specific engineering practices we apply to implement it and the measurement approaches we use to verify compliance. Where we have not yet achieved full implementation, we state that plainly.
Responsible AI frameworks are not complete documents that get filed and forgotten. They are living governance instruments that should evolve as the capabilities of AI systems — and the organizational contexts in which they operate — evolve. We commit to updating this framework as our understanding and our practice develop.
Ethics Framework
Principles without implementation are aspirations. Each principle below is paired with the engineering practices that give it operational meaning.
AI systems must not produce outcomes that systematically disadvantage individuals or groups on the basis of protected characteristics or proxy variables for those characteristics.

Organizations deploying AI systems bear an obligation to be able to explain how those systems reach their outputs to the people affected by them.

Every AI-influenced decision must have a defined human accountable for it. Automation does not transfer accountability — it creates new obligations to monitor and correct.

AI systems must handle personal data with proportionality — collecting what is necessary for the defined purpose and no more — and must be designed to minimize re-identification risk.

AI systems in operational contexts must fail safely. When a system encounters conditions outside its design envelope, the failure mode must not produce harm greater than the absence of the system.

Bias Mitigation
Bias in AI systems originates from multiple sources — historical patterns in training data, feature selection choices that inadvertently encode protected characteristics, evaluation metrics that optimize for aggregate performance at the cost of minority group performance, and deployment conditions that differ from training conditions. Addressing bias requires systematic processes at each stage, not a single audit at deployment.
Training data auditing
Demographic representation analysis, label quality assessment across subgroups, and historical bias identification prior to model training.
Fairness metrics at evaluation
Disaggregated performance measurement including equalized odds, demographic parity, and calibration across relevant groups, with deployment gates based on fairness thresholds.
Production monitoring
Ongoing measurement of outcome distributions in production, with alerting when disparate impact metrics exceed defined thresholds, triggering mandatory review.
Governance
AI governance is the organizational infrastructure that ensures AI systems operate within defined ethical and operational boundaries over time. It is distinct from initial system approval — a system that is safe at deployment can become unsafe as its environment changes, its use expands, or its failure modes are better understood.
Pre-deployment review
Formal review of new AI systems and material changes to existing systems against ethical principles, fairness requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
Periodic operational audit
Scheduled review of production systems to assess whether performance, fairness, and safety characteristics remain within acceptable bounds given any changes in operating conditions.
Incident classification and response
Defined process for identifying, classifying, and responding to AI system incidents — including criteria for temporary suspension of autonomous capabilities pending investigation.
Transparency reporting
Periodic disclosure to relevant stakeholders of AI system performance, identified issues, and corrective actions taken — with a scope and frequency calibrated to system risk level.
